Role in the Garden: The watchful commander of routines. Shadow ensures meals, naps, and bedtime are observed on schedule — and that the Garden never dares to fall out of order.

Personality:

• Bossy (but in a regal, commanding way).
• Smarter than the average dog — knows far more than the “400 words” they say dogs should know.
• Dramatic flair for starvation performances.
• Protective when the Garden grows dark, but not too proud to call in Dug as backup.

Quirks:

• Her two favorite words: “nippy” (nap) and “night-night” (bedtime). She hears them, she’s gone.
• Must be fed every 2 hours or she will perish (at least that’s the story she tells).
• If she requires a midnight potty break, she wakes the entire household with royal urgency.
• Tolerates the “sub-humans” (aka the other animals) but secretly plays with Jax when no one’s looking.
• Will not step paw outside after dark unless Dug escorts her.

Lore:
In the Garden, the dolls whisper that Shadow can hear every word and knows more than any ordinary pup should. She was chosen as Commandress of the Patch™ because nothing escapes her sharp ears or sharper sense of schedule. When she calls, the Garden listens — and if she’s hungry, the Garden runs.
